The Classic Negroni

Being Served At The Inn In Quogue

Jimmy Angelo, head bartender serves up the classic Negroni.

Quogue - Jimmy Angelo, head bartender at The Restaurant at Tthe Inn In Quogue, mixes up a true classic that dates back to the 1890s. Although considered an Italian cocktail, it is thought to have actually been created by French General Pascal Olivier Count de Negroni as a digestive aid. Having fought with Napoleon, perhaps he needed a little tonic to cool his nerves.

It is incredibly simple to prepare, and can be made up or on the rocks .

The Classic Negroni

As Jimmy explained, "Fill a rocks glass with ice. It is a cocktail made with equal parts of three different liquors. Fill the glass with 1/3 Bombay gin, 1/3 Tribuno sweet vermouth and 1/3 Campari. You can give it a quick shake or a simple stir and then garnish with a slice of orange. Easy as that!"

Ingredients:
 • 1 ½ ounces of gin

 • 1 ½ ounces of sweet vermouth

 • 1 ½ ounces of Campari

 • 1 orange slice
